BrningHalo incorporated a "Blood Priest" into the fluff for his army here; http://throneofskulls.com/viewtopic.php ... &sk=t&sd=a so he might be able to give you some info.

Fluff wise, however, I'm pretty sure that the World Eaters killed all of their chaplains as sacrifices to Khorne.

For fluff I think blood priest are some kind of guys, who just tend to make the rest of the army fall even more into frenzy.

For gaming Blood priest are an excuse to use an Chaos Sorcerer with Warptime without killing fluff

I fallow you. In my legion most of my higher chain of command are all Blood Prists

i like your idea about useing the Sorcerer entry. you could just say the LD test that he makes is to channal the pwer of the Blood God through him.

My inclusion of Blood Priests has to do with my desire to field a chaos equivelant of
a Loyalist Marine command squad: Icon bearer, Tech marine, Chaplain, etc. Also, I am
a great fan of the religios symbolism used by the Word Bearers and thought it would
be an interesting variation to have a devout, blood crazed Chaplain dedicated to Khorne.

Game wise, no special rules, would just play him as a Chaos lord, maybe with a demon
weapon or just a power weapon for the crozius...but no special rules. Purely for decorative
and fluff purposes.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Blood Priests ? * SPOILER ALERT*

Hey guys just thought I'd throw my two cents into the mix. Blood priests remind me of the book hammer of Daemons. In the book, at the start of one of the later contests, a collective clergy presides over the sacrifices of warriors. In the book they practice a form divination similar to anthropomancy, which is the reading of entrails and organs. By deducing the pattern of bloodshed and the spasms of the dying, they discern that Khorne favours the games and that there will be much blood spilled during the games. Perhaps this could translate to a WE warband, as it is possible that some marines would become more zealous over time, and there is nothing that has anything to do with psykers. A warband could seek the council or blessing of these priests before a fight hoping to ensure khornes favour. This could mayyyybbbeee even be used in game, with a dice being rolled before the start of a fight, and each number on the dice having an associated effect on the warband, based on wut the priests "interpret" from their sacrifices. What does everyone think???
The victory lies not in the taking of ground...but the taking of skulls!

I feel that am very much on the same page as you are. The aspect of Khorne that represents marshal prowess and warrior code is always lost to the “Kill Maim Burn” depiction of all Khornate followers. For me I like the thought of a organized military formation that has them main objective to slaughter in the name of their lord.

I like to think of my army as a holy crusading force that follows the mono dominate cult of Khorne. Religious symbolism runs rife though out my army and writing. Again I can tell we are on the same page here.

Also I go as far to have in my writing references to Legion artifacts that the Blood Priests present before the rank and file legionaries, demanding of them to sewer oaths of the moments on these items in an attempt to maintain their twisted form of organization and discipline over the legion as a whole.
Like you said no rules just style.
