Amount of WE stuff in the HH novels...

Postby Empty Bolter Clip on Thu Sep 03, 2009 5:15 pm

I have heard that there are some WE characters in a few of the HH novels: Galaxy in Flames, Flight of the Eisenstein, and Battle for the Abyss.

My question (without spoilers please) is just how much of a presence do the WE have in each of those? Not much at all, only a little bit, or enough to warrant reading them strictly for the WE content contained within? Just trying to plan out my next 40k novel, and I think I want a WE related one....

Thanks in advance.

Well to be honest I wouldn't say that any of the HH novels are WE focused unfortunately. The only one that had a good amount of content with World Eaters in it was Battle for the Abyss but it's only a couple of our battle brothers.
A good leader inspires by example but if that fails brutal violence works just as well.

Thanks, that is what i was hoping to find out. I knew there was no official WE book in the HH series just yet, and that at most there would be a captain and/or a handful of marines. I just wasn't sure as to which books specifically had some WE content, and if it was enough to start building an idea of the mannerisms and thought processes of the WE at the time.

... I tend to get inspired by the characters and chapters I read about in 40k novels, so I just looking for some inspiration for a future WE force.

Then Battle for the Abyss would be a great read for you. You definitely get a good feeling for how the World Eaters were individually such as mannerisms, sense of honor, thought processes in that book.

There is an entire short story in Tales of Heresy devoted to the World Eaters, specifically to the actual first meeting of Angron with his new legion in the immediate aftermath of his kidnapping/betrayal by the Emperor. It also reveals how the World Eaters got their name. Very enjoyable read!

Yeah, that is an awesome story. We really need more WE stories. I really think we should all write in to Black Library asking when we're going to get a WE novel in the HH books.

I'm currently Reading Battle for the Abyss, it's the first 40k based book I've read. I'm about 3/4 through it, it's definately good for getting a sense of world eaters lust for blood and general behaviour, even if it's before they come to ther senses and find khorne!
